This sign on the plateau high up in the
mountains above Irapetra reads: It is strictly forbidden to dig
Almost at the top of Crete the air was thin and this plateau looked like it was once a lake, the ground still spongy from damp at the end of September!
the huge flat
plateau has a church and honours the young men who became victims of the war on Crete
this sign (left) reads: It is forbidden to cut trees...
the sign on the right says something about fire..
and someone has! it's full of buckshot!
Angel clouds high up on the plateau of Omolos
a heavenly fire breathing dragon perhaps?
Beautiful wild flowers and wild scenery high up where the air is thin
the sign points to the Sacred place of Aphrodite.
Locked gates greeted us
it looked like some work has been carried out to begin restoring this archeological site.
High up where the air is thin, a long trek high up a rough dirt track, there were no villagers to ask for stories.
Kato Simi resting in the mountains and the beautiful sunsets as night draws in
Nothing strange about a tree, when I loaded the pictures onto my computer, I noticed a very strange sun spot!
(above) mid September and the spring water still runs along the man made waterway in the area of the Church onto the plateau
