Pano Elounda Crete has gone through a transition! European Funding for this scenic Greek village
Kreta have restored the Greek roads
I hope you enjoy these photos of a beautiful
Greek village where the donkey streets are still trotted along by donkeys! and the ancient Kafeneons (Greek bars) are looking forward to becoming your friends, making friends up in Pano is so easy, the same as the way of life up there, now that the diggers have moved on! Sit and sip a lemonade or two with your newly found Greek village friends in Pano Elounda Crete Kreta.

A lot of people are familiar with the little fishing village of Elounda Lassithi east Crete. I would like to introduce the smaller lesser known villages that surround it. I've included a few links here of studios, apartments, rooms inexpensive self catering accommodation.

Elounda Crete consists of four Greek villages. Skisma (village square) is the newer and typically tourist village. It has many typically Greek souvenir shops, bars, tavernas and restaurants. Kafeneons the real Greek bars beat the bars in Skisma for character and charm.
Mavrikiano hill is a tiny hill village overlooking Elounda Skisma (village square). It is still relatively undeveloped although it has an excellent restaurant half way up the hill, well worth the climb! A delightfully old and original Kafeneon bar, 'Elpizo - Hope', from where, with Michalis, you can enjoy a glorious view while sipping your drink in the bar with a view!
Kato and Pano Elounda (lower + upper Elounda) are two very sweet villages that are well worthy of exploration. The last time I was in Kato Elounda it looked more like a building site as so many properties are being bought and renovated! Most derelects are for sale.
Pano Elounda with its donkey streets, still retaines so
much charm in the character of the buildings and the people alike!
The village has just benefited from renovation
and is looking very nice! Photos of Pano
The village folk are so naturally friendly
and will greet you with the familiar
